The hospitality industry leader will more than double access to solar power
las vegas, September 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) (“MGM Resorts” or the “Company”) is taking a bold leap toward its ambitious sustainability goals by signing a power purchase agreement with Escape Solar LLC that will more than double Access to clean solar electricity – a fantastic step towards a greener future. This agreement will help the company achieve its goal of supplying 100% renewable electricity North America By 2030. Already a global leader in sustainability with the world’s largest direct-connect solar array in the hospitality industry, MGM Resorts currently uses solar power for 90% of total daily needs at its 11 iconic Las Vegas properties. This visionary 25-year contract will strengthen the company’s renewable energy capabilities and expand production to cover 100% of the total daily needs of those properties. In addition, the Escape Solar+’s battery storage allows extending the renewable energy supply into the late afternoon and early evening hours to include uses such as exterior property lighting.
Escape Solar + Storage project, which will be managed by Stewari Power, to build Lincoln County, Nevada. It combines a 115 megawatt (MW) solar installation with a 100 MW/400 MWh battery storage system. The facility will generate an amount of renewable electricity equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 28,000 average US homes. Operations are expected to begin in early 2026, marking a milestone in MGM Resorts’ journey to sustainability leadership.

In 2023, the company achieved two significant carbon emissions targets: to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent by 2025 and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per square foot by 50 percent by 2030. - A 323,000-panel solar mega array that supplies 100 megawatts to MGM Resorts locations in Vegas
- 26,000 solar panels on top of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, giving the property 8.3 megawatts.
- 100 kW solar array on the roof to help power the T-Mobile Arena
- 3,456 solar panels on top of the MGM Springfield parking garage at Massachusetts
